Where Notes Become Meaning
Start with the page. Grow beyond it.
Life Off the Page is an ecosystem for learning, creating music, and living with intention.
Contemporary & Inclusive
Approach
Based off of Skills for the Modern Pianist,
integrate traditional skills with creative, contemporary, and practical skills.
Comping, improv, lead sheets,
playing in a rock/jazz/praise band,
accompanying a soloist, and so much more.
Engaged Community
We gather through regular live classes, courses, and shared spaces
for learning and support.
The most meaningful results come from collaboration and community.
Guiding Philosophy
LOTP centers around expression,
curiosity toward the world around us,
and a sense of identity.
What awakens your senses?
We want to be a part of it!
About Grant
Grant Kondo believes that true artistry begins when we step off the page—away from rigid rules and toward a life of curiosity, connection, and creation.
As the author of Skills for the Modern Pianist, Grant has reimagined piano education for the 21st century, blending classical foundations with the freedom of improvisation, arranging, and creative listening. His approach honors both mastery and humanity: technique as a path to expression, and expression as a mirror of self.
Life Off the Page extends that philosophy beyond music. It’s about learning to listen—to sound, to silence, and to the world around us. Whether exploring the pulse of a city street, the quiet of a Swiss mountainside, or the resonance of a single chord, Grant reminds us that creativity is not something we add to life—it’s how we live it.
Through writing, teaching, and travel, he continues to explore how music connects the inner and outer worlds—where sound becomes story, and living itself becomes art.
